Dodgers Stadium has been home to the Los Angeles Dodgers since 1962. It is built on the Chavez Ravine, overlooking downtown Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Mountains. It is said to be one of the best stadiums in baseball, so every baseball fan should defiantly check it out to see a Dodgers game with their RV rental.
Stadium Facts
The stadium is located at 1000 Elysian Park Avenue, and it was designed to hold 56,000 fans. However, it can expand to 85,000 seats when necessary. Be sure to stop by to see this team in action while you are in L.A. with your RV rental. Another unique feature is that there is a terraced-earthworks parking lot behind the main stands, so you are at roughly the same level as your RV rental.. It cost $23 million to build, as is also earthquake-resistant, an important factor for the region. When it was built, it was the only park designed specifically for baseball, making all seats in the house good for viewing the game. It is one of the oldest stadiums still in use for Major League Baseball due to its excellent upkeep. There have been some renovations in 2004, adding luxury suites to the stadium. It is also one of the few remaining stadiums that do not have a corporate sponsor as part of the title.
Introducing the Los Angeles Dodgers....
The Dodgers moved from Brooklyn in 1958 because of their need for a new stadium. President Walter O’Malley had a dream of building a great stadium, which was not possible in Brooklyn. Until this stadium could be built, the Dodgers played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, a large multi-purpose stadium that was built to host the 1932 Summer Olympics. They won the World Series in 1959, winning the hearts of baseball fans in Los Angeles. Dodger Stadium opened in 1962, and was a hit because all seats had a good view of the game. Be sure you stop at Dodgers Stadium with your RV rental while you are in L.A.
Hitter or Pitcher Park?
Dodgers stadium is said to be a pitcher’s park because of the poor visibility for hitters and the large amount of foul territory. Although some of the foul territory was removed for the luxury suites added in the 2004 renovation. Even the weather works in favor of the pitcher. During evening games the air cools and becomes more dense, stopping fly balls in the air which otherwise might have been a home run for the hitter. This is a great place to park your RV rental and take in a game.
Not Just a Baseball Park...
Dodgers stadium is not just for baseball! It sometimes hosts other sporting events such as boxing, the Harlem Globetrotters, or even ski jumping exhibitions. It was also where Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass on September 16, 1987. And, it has been the site of many famous concerts, such as KISS, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, U2, and many more. Maybe when you are in town you can catch a concert here as well! It is easy to get to and park at with your RV rental.
