Garden Grove is a beautiful city based on historical values and modern ideas. Located in lush Orange County, Garden Grove was first settled in the 1850s after gaining independence from Mexico, by a man named Abel Stearns. In 1874 Alonzo Cook purchased approximately 160 acres of land, giving rise to a new town, which he named "Garden Grove". Back in the 19th century Garden Grove was truly a "garden"; plentiful fields of apricots, grapes and peaches dotted the landscape, creating a beautiful setting for a new settlement. Today Garden Grove is no longer as green as it used to be, but it still holds on dearly to the golden days of its establishment. A recent partnering of local corporations and businesses has helped to redevelop the urban atmosphere of Garden Grove by creating the Renaissance Garden Grove Program. This program is dedicated to revitalizing Garden Grove, through historical pursuits and agriculture. The Garden Grove Historical Society is also working hard to bring a little history back to the Grove by turning and old farm house into the city's museum.
Garden Grove is a thriving city full of many interesting places to visit and explore.
